With a renewed focus on digital first, City Times staff published their first online stories of the fall 2018 semester on Tuesday, Sept. 11.
A staff of 13 collaborated on campus- and community-focused coverage, ranging from a preview on the campus’ Suicide Prevention Week events to a recap of the Knights’ performance at a major cross country meet to a multimedia news project about resources for food insecure and homeless students. A major digital-first project on the San Diego Promise also debuted.
Zuniga’s story marked an important first. In an effort to responsibly cover suicide, all stories related to it will be accompanied by a list of prevention resources, including referral phone numbers and links. Special thanks to the team at City College Mental Health Counseling for support and guidance on providing the best possible resources to our shared audience.
The print edition of the City Times is not going away. Two print editions are scheduled for the fall term — Sept. 25 and a special election edition set for Oct. 30. Both will be available on newsstands and online.
Legend magazine will also return in December.
